A very warm welcome to you all. Australian Technology & Agricultural College has opened its doors at its North Maclean Campus for the 2018 academic year. We are located at 4808-4822 Mount Lindesay Highway, North Maclean. Last year we operated from our temporary leased site at Parkinson. We are pleased to announce that 90% of our year 12 students obtained their QCE certificate (Year 12 Certificate) and many have been placed in work experience, traineeship or apprenticeship opportunities.
We have worked closely with Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) such as Australian Qualifications Institute, Oceania College of Technology, YMCA, TAFE Queensland and All Trades Queensland (in 2017) for our students to gain the necessary qualification and training.
Now that we have moved to our planned development site, we will be providing wider range of subject choices and activity-based programmers. Our subjects are QCAA approved and all assessments are monitored accordingly. Our qualified & experienced teachers deliver the programmes to meet the individual needs in a flexible learning environment. Emphasis on developing employability skills prepares our students to be placed into work-experience which leads to school-based apprenticeships and advancing in their career paths. We have secured two work experience opportunities and two apprenticeships this week. Mental health, student welfare and counselling are supported by ALIVE and Springwood Wellness Centre. We have been strengthening our industry links with Mendham Engineering, BP Service Station (North Maclean) and Magnito Electrical, where our students will be placed this year.
As we plan for our academic advancement, our short-term goals include building more classrooms, improving road access (with Department of Main Roads) and giving our students the opportunity to grow plants, construct garden beds, a nursery, a greenhouse and a building & construction shed.
Our flexible learning environment and individualised student support is enabling us to educate, upskill and place students into work place to fast track them into jobs. The ATAC Board greatly appreciates the support from Independent Schools Queensland, parents, neighbours and local businesses. We look forward to working with you all to grow our students’ future!
